Artist in Residence

The Artist-in-Residence program is a unique opportunity for artists to experience the beauty of the great ocean road and surrounds and develop their practice in the light filled artist studio at Lorne Community Connect located at 2 Otway Street in the beautiful coastal town of Lorne.

The Artist in Residence (AIR) program commenced in 2020 as part of the Surf Coast Shire’s COVID recovery initiative. The residency program supports the development of the artist’s practice and creative engagement between artist, community, and place.

The program provides onsite studio with 24/7 access for periods of up to 6 months. Onsite facilities include free wi-fi, heating, shared kitchen, and bathrooms. Free parking available onsite. ATM, cafes, beach, community garden and park land are available nearby.

The residency does not include travel expenses, meals, or long-term accommodation. Limited short-term accommodation may be available and can be discussed at the time of application.

The residency is open to emerging and established artists in any field. We aim to support a diverse range of creative practitioners and their individual voices within our community and across Australia.
